Our European Farmhouse Inspired Kitchen: All The Details

our european farmhouse kitchen

The kitchen, is the heart of the home, isn’t that what they always say? And our Washington kitchen most definitely is. When I designed our kitchen, there was a major emphasis on form, functionality, and of course beauty too. We moved into our home almost 4 years ago now and there isn’t one decision that I would change, but let me highlight a few that I love most.

First, let’s talk about our pendants, something that I get asked about daily. Unfortunately, they are no longer available so I am not able to link them (trust me I would if I could, no gate keeping here)!! These pendants were actually not my original choice, they are something that I changed last minute and I’m so glad I did. The aged brass finish adds so much character to our kitchen, and they have the prettiest glow at night. Lighting is so impactful and something to really focus on when building. Not just the actual lights, but the placement, and addition of accent lighting too. We added lighting under the cabinets, and in the upper cabinets too. It adds so much warmth and I love using the different lighting throughout the day. These lights are so me, and I love the drama they added to our kitchen, I honestly couldn’t imagine our kitchen without them.

My second favorite design choice is the oversized single basin farmhouse sink. There is always a lot of debate over which is superior, single or double basin. I have zero regrets on choosing a single basin. What I love most is that you can really fit it all in here. I have no problem fitting the largest pots in here to wash them. The fireclay material has also been extremely durable, and easy to clean. We have no stains, or scratches almost 4 years in! Love this sink, and you can shop it here.

The third and final thing I absolutely love and would choose again in a heartbeat would our gas range. This beauty was actually selected way before we even started building, after scrolling Pinterest for ideas. It was what I based the whole kitchen design around. I love this beautiful black range with brass and stainless accents. It was a bit hard to learn to bake without a window, but I learned to trust my ovens and never looked back. It is a La Cornue 110, and we purchased it from Williams Sonoma, you can shop it here. The 5 gas burners, and 2 ovens are so nice when we are hosting our families. Derek and I both love to host, and this range has been the perfect addition to our kitchen, and boy is it beautiful too!

Our kitchen is always where everyone gravitates when they come to visit, and it is my dream kitchen. I can’t wait to someday be able to cook every Christmas & Thanksgiving meal in here surrounded by our family and friends. I am so thankful for this home, and the joy it brings our family. Home is definitely a feeling I never want to forget.
