Framing - Building 101

Framing, it’s the stage when your house starts to feel like a home. When you can feel your dreams starting to come to life.

It’s one of the most important stages. At this stage you can make any necessary changes to your layout, window sizes etc. Some builders may charge for changes like these. But once a home is completely framed they move right on to electrical and plumbing and at that point structural changes will be very expensive to do.

I recommend going to the house as often as possible during the framing stage to check for mistakes, and to walk through the rooms as they come to life.

During this stage you will want to double check window and door sizes, as well as heights of them as well. We had to make a couple small changes to doorways once the trusses were on.

This stage was one of my favorites, and definitely when the build started to feel real. I walked through each room and visualized furniture placement, and even started measuring for lighting and furniture at this point too. So much fun!

Recognize this view? Love seeing our beams in their natural structural state. Framing is such a fun stage! Can’t wait for you to see your home start to take shape!!!
